Our Approach To Grief & Loss Treatment
Seeking help from a grief counselor is a courageous decision. We understand the unique nature of each grief journey and are dedicated to providing compassionate support. We embrace the diversity of emotional experiences and offer personalized care to honor your individual path.
Our experienced therapists offer insights and tools to help you navigate through the complexities of grief, identify emotional obstacles, and reconnect with your inner strengths.
In the journey of grief, each person's path is deeply personal. Some find comfort in sharing memories of the loved one they've lost, while others might find this too painful. Similarly, the presence of the deceased's possessions can be a source of solace for some, but for others, it might be necessary to remove these items from sight. This difference is something we’ve seen in many clients – some aren't ready to let go of personal belongings for years, while others may feel ready in a matter of months.
With these varied experiences in mind, the essential role of a grief counselor is to offer a nurturing and understanding space for those grieving, meeting them wherever they are on their journey. Whether it's offering a shoulder to cry on, a patient ear to listen to stories of anger, sadness, or frustration, or just being there in moments of profound numbness or pain, the warmth and empathy of a grief counselor can be a guiding light through the complex emotions of loss.
Transformative Benefits Of Grief & Loss Therapy
You can rely on a grief counselor to guide you through the journey of healing and acceptance. It is our great and sacred honor to help others find a way to speak of their grief, and more importantly, to find a space in which their feelings for their losses can reside.
With support from a bereavement therapist, you can tune into your feelings and decide when you're ready for each step. Whether you're experiencing overwhelming sadness, anger, or numbness, your grief counselor is committed to being with you every step of the way.
Losing a loved one often leads to a feeling of powerlessness, but through our empathetic support, we aim to empower you to honor your own pace of grieving. We understand the importance of allowing yourself the time and space you need to heal. Surrounding yourself with the right support can significantly aid in your healing journey.
Is there life after loss? Facing the challenge of living without a loved one is one of the hardest aspects of grief. Our grief counselors and bereavement therapists are here to help you explore these difficult questions, supporting you in finding a path to hope and possibility, even in the absence of your loved one. With our guidance, you can rediscover joy and fulfillment in life after loss.

How To Get Matched With A Grief Counselor Or Bereavement Therapist
- Contact Our Team: Use the Contact Us form or call us at (516) 221-9494 to schedule an appointment. Our client care coordinator will reach out via phone within 24 business hours. If you are in crisis or are in need of immediate help, please call 911 or go to your closest emergency room.
- Personalized Therapist Matching: When our client care coordinator contacts you to discuss your therapy needs, we will ask specific questions designed to match you with the best grief counselor for your needs. We take great pride in our matching techniques, which give our clients better outcomes.
The client care coordinator will ask for background information such as your therapy needs and how we can be helpful to you, your location, and if you prefer in-person or remote sessions. Additionally, we will take note of your availability for ongoing weekly sessions. We strive to accommodate your schedule!
- Insurance Verification: During the intake phone call, we will collect your insurance plan details. We will then contact your insurance provider to confirm coverage. We accept the following plans: Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, Fidelis, GHI, Medicare, Oscar, Oxford, UMR, and United Healthcare.
Please note, we do not accept 1199, Affinity, Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicaid (JLJ prefix), Emblem Essentials or Emblem HIP, Healthfirst, Humana, Medicaid, and United Community.
- Out-of-Network & Self-Pay Options: If we do not have a good therapy match with an in-network provider, you may have out-of-network benefits. If you're open to going out of network, we'll share our out-of-network fees. If you don't have insurance, we offer substantially reduced self-pay rates for consultations and ongoing sessions.
Therapist Assignment & Scheduling: Once we have verified your insurance and determined the therapist that best matches your needs, we will reach back out to schedule your appointment. If your calendar permits, we will do our very best to schedule your first appointment within one week of your call.
